The Soar Chatroom requires that you have Java installed on your computer.

Most new Windows based PCs, Macs and older versions of Windows have this pre-installed.

If you have reinstalled Windows XP or you have built your own computer and have not installed Java, the chat applet will fail to load.

You can download this free from www.java.com

This is a large download of approximately 15 MB which we would only recommend if you have a high speed internet connection (a friend might be able to help you if they have a high speed connection).

Alternatively you can request a CD with java installation from www.java.com

Occasionally, your browser security settings might block Java -you might need to check this if Java is already installed.
